Mindfulness practices:
Mindfulness can be practised in a variety of ways or meditations: awareness of the breath, body scan, mindful movement, walking meditation, awareness of sounds and sights, awareness of thoughts, mindful eating as well as generating many other mindful ‘moments’ throughout our daily lives. All of these practices are ways to help us increase an awareness of the physical, emotional and cognitive sensations we might be having at any given time.
Each practice varies in length depending on its use in a particular session; some will be fairly short (10-20 mins) and some will be longer (35-40 mins) and part of the practice itself will be about recognise our wandering minds during this time. You’ll have access to audio recordings for each of the practices that we work through.
Practical tips about meditation:
Often when we start to practice meditation, we might find it quite a difficult thing to manage as its unfamiliar to us. Headspace has some great videos to discuss the various aspects involved that are definitely worth a watch.
